Not Your Grandma’s Canning Class: Cranberry Chutney and Maple Apple Jam

Do you remember your grandmother putting up fruits? It may seem like a lost art, but it’s not as hard as you think. Come join us as we go over the basics of canning and learn to take some of the best of fall harvest to create the perfect accompaniment to fall menus: Cranberry Chutney and Maple Apple Jam.

This will be a hands-on class designed for novice and seasoned canners alike. We will review the basics of boiling water canning including information on food safety and how to store your newly canned goods. Each participant will take home a jar of chutney and a jar of apple jam we make during class.

Mediterranean cuisine is characterized by its flexibility, its range of ingredients and its many regional variations. It is widely believed that Mediterranean cuisine is particularly healthful. Join Chef Lori from Crave Cuisine in the kitchen to create this easy-delicious-healthy 3 course meal.

Caramelized Apple Marmalade and Apricot Navel Orange Conserve

We take our canning to the next level with more complex techniques to make Caramelized Apple Marmalade and Apricot Navel Orange Conserve, perfect accompaniments to upcoming holiday meals.

This will be a hands-on class for both seasoned and novice canners. We will review the basics of boiling water canning including information on food safety and how to store your newly canned goods. Each participant will take home a jar of marmalade and conserve.

Asian Cooking Competition and Class

You will be put into three groups. Each group gets a box of semi-prepped ingredients & a photo of their appetizer. You have 30 minutes to make your appetizer. The judge will choose the winner(s) in a taste test. Next, you'll visit the sushi station and a grab a “walk around and mingle dinner” served in individual take-out boxes with chopsticks.

Hoisin chicken lettuce wraps w/ sprouts
Vegetable spring rolls w/ wasabi-tamari dipping sauce
Seared sesame tuna on cucumber rounds w/ wasabi vinaigrette
Sushi station - observe sushi being rolled and take part in making your own if you like!
Chicken & peanut Pad Thai
Vegetable stir fry over steamed basmati
Mini tropical fruit cups w/ ginger-star anise glaze & five spice whip

hands-on croissants, scones, & cinnamon twists

Enjoy brunch while learning how to make buttery croissants, ham & cheese croissants, and pain au chocolat. You'll also learn how to put the twist in cinnamon twist and the art of scrumptious scones.

Chef Maggie from Velvet Dessert will teach you the tricks of the trade.
